The National Human Resources Development Institute (NHI) of the Republic of Korea concluded a transformative Capacity Development Program for Civil Servants from the National Training Academy (NTA) of Egypt. Held from December 14th, 2023, to September 24th, 2023, this immersive program catered to 19 select personnel from the NTA, an institution at the forefront of Egypt’s governance and civil service reform since its inception in August 2017. Drawing on Korea’s extensive history and prowess in public service training—dating back to 1949—the program tailored a series of comprehensive modules aimed at equipping these professionals with unparalleled expertise. Central to the curriculum were sessions on the Competency Assessment System and specialized courses like the Senior Executive Program, alongside offerings for New Director-Generals and Newly-Recruited officials.
Beyond the confines of the classroom, this bilateral exchange broadened its horizon, exposing the cohort to the operational intricacies of talent cultivation in Korea. Notable field visits included the Center for Teaching and Learning at Seoul National University and the industrially renowned POSCO University. These excursions provided the participants with an invaluable comparative perspective on the synergy between public and corporate sector training paradigms. This initiative underscores the NHI’s vested interest in fostering a robust international dialogue on human resource development and marks a significant milestone in the burgeoning partnership between the Republic of Korea and Egypt in the realm of governmental capacity building.
